Butler Beach

Butler Beach is an Island/beach neighborhood of mostly single family homes. It is located on Anastasia Island, just 10 miles south of the historic city of St Augustine.  It runs from the Atlantic ocean west to the Matanzas River.  It is located just north of Crescent beach.

Rich in history, Butler Beach is named after local business man Frank Butler, who in 1927 helped established Butler Beach as one of NE Florida’s few “Blacks Only” beaches.  Of course, today Butler Beach is enjoyed by everyone, tourists and locals alike.  It is my favorite beach location on the island.  I enjoy riding my bike on this section of beach at low tide and just love the peacfulness of it at sun rise.

In addition to ocean front homes, the neighborhood features soft white sandy beach and high natural sand dunes.   At the end of several east/west running streets is a pedestrian public beach access or a drive on road, a walking path or a dune walk over for direct beach access.  The beaches here and in Crescent beach are the widest in St Johns County.  Butler Beach affords "the best of" Island Living, but it is only a 15 minute drive to the Bridge of Lions and historic St Augustine.  Homes in this neighborhood present an eclectic mix of beach cottages built in the 1950’s and contemporary custom built homes.   Home prices can range from $200,000 to well over $3 million.  Butler Beach is one of Anastasia Island’s most unique and desirable neighborhoods.

I live in Butler beach and love it!
